Event Sales Intern

Job Overview
The Event Sales Intern assists the Event Sales Manager and Event Sales Coordinators with the successful execution of events to provide the highest levels of enjoyment to groups of guests visiting the racetrack; Performs outbound sales efforts to attract new group clients and takes inbound group ticket orders. Executes group sales paddock tours and winners circle experiences.
Responsibilities
Assists the Event Sales Manager and Event Sales Coordinators with the successful execution of events to provide the highest levels of enjoyment to groups of guests visiting the racetrack, which involves:
Winners Circle Presentations and Paddock Tours.
Helps coordinate event activities and resources needed with facilities.
Attends events to supervise activities and to respond to any requests made by key event personnel; and,
Welcoming guests to the race track and providing information on the services available.
Contacts accounts for payment, final headcounts, menu choices and confirms winner circle race times with group leaders.
Prospects new group leads and reaches out to corporate and community organizations to plan company/group outings and grow group ticket sales revenue, including hospitality sales and reserved seat sales.
May be asked to complete an industry-specific project over length of internship.
Performs other duties as instructed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Experience: event experience preferably in the thoroughbred racing or sports entertainment industries.
Other Requirements: Computer literacy, Driver's license, professional appearance and ability to work the racing schedule including weekends and holidays.
The ability to work at both Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course.
Internship dates: 5/1/2019 to 9/2/2019.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
